SSP's 80mm burrs in the blind mount. There are no screw holes: the burrs locate on three pins and sit in the grinder's own carrier. Five cuts, two coatings, one price. Pick the cut for how you brew.

Which cut

• Brewing Blind: SSP's unimodal filter cut. Very low fines and very high clarity. Great with good beans, but it can taste thin with average ones. Espresso only works as long, fast shots ground near zero.
• High Uniformity (HU) Blind: the espresso-first cut. A tight spread with enough fines for real body, so shots are full and punchy at normal ratios. It still grinds well for filter.
• Low Uniformity (LU) Blind: sits between HU and Brewing. Cleaner and lighter than HU, very good for filter, and it pulls balanced, fast-flowing shots.
• Lab Sweet (LS) Blind: SSP's cast-style cut. Sweet and balanced with decent body, and easy to dial in. The all-rounder of the range.
• Ultra Low Fines (BP) Blind: the lowest-fines cut, made for filter, batch brew and cupping. Zerno sells this cut as ULF. It takes the longest to settle, up to about 25kg.

Red Speed (TiAlCN) is the usual pick for espresso. Silver Knight (DLC type) runs with lower friction and is the usual pick for filter and bulk grinding. The cut changes the cup far more than the coating does.

Compatibility

Blind 3-pin mount, no screw holes. SSP's dealers sell this mount for three grinders:

• Zerno Z2. Zerno sells these SSP cuts as 3-pin blind sets for the Z2 itself.
• Weber Workshops EG-1. Listed by SSP dealers, and owners have resold these blind sets as fitting the EG-1.
• Option-O Lagom P80. Listed by SSP dealers. Some P80 owners on Home-Barista report the motor stalling with SSP burrs fitted, and others report no trouble. Talk to us before you order for a P80.

Read this before you order for anything else. SSP cuts 80mm burrs in several mounting formats and they do not swap between grinders. The Ditting 804 and 807 and the Mahlkonig Peak and E80 take the screw-hole version, which we list as SSP 80mm Burrs to fit Ditting 804/807, Mahlkonig Peak and E80. The Mahlkonig Tanzania and Ditting 805 take a different 2-pin blind burr. Bunn G-series grinders need SSP's Bunn version. If you are not certain which one you have, ask us first.
